About Community Futures

The Community Futures Development Corporation of the Central Okanagan (CFDCCO) is a community based organization funded by Western Economic Diversification Canada and contracts with the Province of BC and private organizations to deliver business development programs. The organization and programs are governed by a volunteer board of local business people and community leaders.

Community Futures Central Okanagan was founded in 1990 and began with $1.4 million in loan funds provided by the Federal Government. Today, loan funds have grown to over $7.553 million and we have made loans totaling $32.532 million to help start or expand 1,125 businesses in the Central Okanagan. In addition, over 2,000 people have participated in the Self Employment Start-up Program delivered by Community Futures since 1992. The popular program helps new entrepreneurs successfully research, plan and launch their own business venture.

As a result, Community Futures contributes to the social and economic well being of the Central Okanagan by providing small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs access to services tailored to their individual needs. From financing to training programs, Community Futures is a full support centre for new and existing businesses.
